The city of Amandola , also known as the Queen of the Sibillini, stands on three hills and is located at the beginning of the Sibillini National Park, on the south-eastern side, and has very ancient origins. Since ancient times, the main activity has been agriculture which was flanked by the processing and weaving of wool in the fifteenth century. Thanks to its natural beauty, tourism has also developed in recent years and has become a popular holiday resort. Amandola is also rich in renowned dairy industries and an important gastronomic culture, where the Truffle of the Sibillini Mountains is its most prized product.
Amandola was the settlement of the Piceni and the Romans, to whom the Lombards, Benedictine and Farfa monks succeeded one another in medieval times. Having become a free municipality in 1248, between the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries it enjoyed a flourishing activity of weaving and dyeing wool, which made it one of the most populous centers in the region in the fifteenth century. From the nineteenth century he specialized in the handicraft sector (wrought iron, woodworking, restoration of antique furniture).

Inside the historic center we find the fourteenth-century Church of S. Francesco with a single nave, with an adjoining frescoed cloister, which houses the Museum of Peasant Civilization , and the oratory of the SS. Rosario adjacent to the church, with frescoes, statues and wooden choir from different eras.
Also in the historic center are the nineteenth-century Palazzo Municipale , the Teatro Comunale "La Fenice" and the church of Sant 'Agostino , inside which the body of Blessed Antonio (18th century) is kept. On the highest point there was the Castle of which today only a tower remains. There are numerous churches in the city: the church of SS. Trinità , the Convent of the Capuchin friars (16th century), the Convent of San Lorenzo , the Abbey of SS. Vincenzo and Anastasio (15th century). Outside the city, however, we find the Abbey of San Ruffino e Vitale built on the remains of a 13th century church. and the Sanctuary of the Madonna dell'Ambro (17th century) and the Romanesque-Gothic bridge over the river Tenna. About 1 Km. From the Abbey of San Ruffino, there is the Lake of San Ruffino , an artificial lake created in 1961 on the course of the Tenna river.
Events
Procession of the Canestrelle (3rd Sunday of August)
The Procession of the Canestrelle takes place in August; young people and women in traditional country clothes and tools parade through the city to the Church of Sant'Agostino. They bring bundles of ears and grains of wheat to Beato Antonio in the characteristic small "baskets".
Diamonds a Tavola (the first two weekends of November).
In this event it is possible to see and buy local truffles, all recovered in the woods of the Sibillini Mountains Park.
